We don’t have to avoid what we know isn’t permanent. Don’t let a moment define you.
Tell me, can you avoid stress? There could be good stresses in our lives, but I have ways to combat the bad ones.
I am going to share what I do whether it is everyday stress or periodically for me to keep my stress low and productivity high.
As much as we want to be happy and create the life that we want, things could happen. That could get on the way and when you start to feel negative due to stress it tends to do a lot more to you than just on your mood.
RESEARCH:
Mental Health Foundation Director Isabella Goldie said:
“Millions of us around the UK are experiencing high levels of stress and it is damaging our health. Stress is one of the great public health challenges of our time, but it still isn’t being taken as seriously as physical health concerns.
“Stress is a significant factor in mental health problems including anxiety and depression. It is also linked to physical health problems like heart disease, problems with our immune system, insomnia and digestive problems.
“Individually we need to understand what is causing us personal stress and learn what steps we can take to reduce it for ourselves and those around us.
“We also need to change at a societal level. This includes ensuring that employers treat stress and mental health problems as seriously as physical safety.
“We are also asking for well-being days to be provided to public sector workers as part of reducing the pressure on those who work hardest to look after us.”
CAUSES OF STRESS AND HOW I DEAL WITH IT:
- Job Pressure– oh yes, I get this a lot and sometimes it really affects me. The way I battle this is to value myself and listen to my positive self rather than taking everything seriously at work.
- Money- I stress with money when I touch my savings. I told my self, never get stressed about money anymore because I have a good paying job, I can always save money and live a comfortable life, that’s all that matters.
- Health- I know I am healthy so I don’t stress about this most of the time. But when I do, I try to think positively, book an appointment with my GP, get checked-up and hope that everything is good.
- Relationship- I rarely get stressed about my relationship with my other-half because we have a not so perfect but very balanced relationship. Even though we are on LDR which is so difficult to handle sometimes, we are both doing our best to make our relationship work. Compromise and communication are our secret weapon.
- Poor Nutrition- I am sticking to my 80% healthy diet and 20% indulgence. In this way I won’t feel deprived of food at the same time I still look after my health. Everything should be in moderation.
- Media Overload- I try not to be on social media most of the time. If I do, I only focus on positive things that I see on there. I unfollow negative and toxic friends on social media.
- Sleep Deprivation- As I age more, I have noticed that my sleep is getting shorter and shorter which I am not happy about. Because for me sleep is a necessity, I need 6 to 8 hours sleep every day otherwise I will be grumpy and unproductive. I try to go to bed as early as I can and wake up early too, to do some stuff I need in the morning before heading to work. I read on my kindle and put other electronics away before bedtime.
While all these are all things may or may not go away and we can continue to improve on them. We need to get clear on how we can relieve stress in order to manage to not to get turned down by inevitable.
I’m going to share some things that I do to keep my stress low and productivity high:
- SLEEP: my favourite thing in the world, we all need sleep. It is very important that we get enough sleep in order to maintain a good overall health and wellness.
- MEDITATION: Meditation may not be for everyone, but it helped me so much that those moments of the day that caused stress because of an occurence, I find myself remembering the calm moment of my mornings meditating. It helped me deal with my stress in a big way.
- WORKING OUT: I don’t work out regularly, but if I do I go hard, I like doing HIIT exercises. I also like YOGA. For me doing yoga is a complete control of your body plus being aware of your breathing. Either way, moving my body relieves my stress and gives me the enough amount of endorphins.
- MASSAGE AND SELFCARE: Try to get a regular massage at least once a month. Our body gets stress too especially if you are working like a donkey so it needs some TLC. Treating yourself to a facial, manicure and pedicure are a nice way to relieve stress and gives you a good feeling too.
- INTENTIONAL DISTRACTION: No solution makes me upset. I try to distract myself but not in unhealthy way. But distract myself for a little while. To be able to reset and wait until the feelings to subside to get a clearer mind for me to come up with a solution.
- TAKE A WALK: Walk it off, use your body to work through something. Walk away and come back with some better solution.
- TALK TO SOMEONE: All of us has someone who we rant out to and they are the one who listens to our frustration. Just talk to them, in this way you can release all the stress in your body. After ranting and crying, this person may give you some good advices that can help you feel better.
And that is it, these are my ways to battle the stresses in my life. How do you battle your stress?
Thanks so much to taking the time reading my blog posts.
