SELF-LOVE 101

Self-love is not selfish; you can not truly love another until you know how to love yourself.

Self-love is the most important relationship in your life. And I strongly agree on that. Self-love is the complete acceptance of what and who you really are. I can say it is the appreciation and affirmation of oneself. The love you can give to yourself is unconditional and compassionate.

When I was younger I was careless and I have experienced lots of things that I have neglected myself. Until I discovered how to love myself and be better. There was a time that I gave my sh*t to everything and everyone then just made myself upset. I have realised that no one will ever give a sh*t to you, it’s only yourself. So learn to love yourself first, until it overflows and then give it to others.

I have developed some SELF-LOVE HABITS that made me not just love myself but made me care about myself, more than anything.

1. LOVE YOUR BODY
  1. LOVE YOUR BODY– When I look good, I feel good. Some people think I’m too skinny. And when some people around me discover that I am doing a certain diet to lose some belly fat (from holiday binging) and for some health reasons too, they laugh at me and tell me that I am doing it wrong. I know my own body and I know what I am doing. I am not doing this to impress no one. Anyways, enough of ranting. What I’m trying to say is if we think we have to do something about our health and our body because we are experiencing some issues, then listen to your body, not to the people around you who judge you. I do take some supplements that really helped me improve my health. I started exercising regularly, practice yoga and meditation again. I try to eat healthily again. I do all of this because I care about my own health, body, mind and spirit. Speaking of meditation, I just want to share how I meditate with self-love script. I focus on my breathing (breath in-out slowly) and in my mind, I recite “I love myself just as I am” 3 times or until I successfully get inside my zen.

2. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE

2. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE– I think that’s why I don’t have too many friends anymore. I am too picky, I only make friends with positive people. People who can uplift me when I am not in my best self. People who encourage, push and inspire me to try new things. People who support my aspirations and dreams. It’s too seldom nowadays to find positive friends. And I am lucky to have a few.

3. DO MORE THINGS THAT YOU LOVE TO DO-

3. DO MORE THINGS THAT YOU LOVE TO DO- Whenever I do the things I love, it makes me more productive, excited and happy. Like writing or drafting a blog post, I feel like I am in my own world because I can write whatever I want without anyone telling me what to do. Writing in my journal every morning is like a workout for my brain that I really enjoy. Doing the things I do love is like a treat for myself, I am not forced to do them instead I get so excited whenever I am scheduled to do them. Find something that you really love to do and make it as a hobby, if you are really good at it maybe you can monetize it and earn some money.

4. FIND YOUR HAPPY PLACE-

4. FIND YOUR HAPPY PLACE- Finding our happy place can give us satisfaction and gratification. My happy place is on a beach, sipping a cocktail. Whenever I imagine this I find myself smiling and it gives me pleasure. I really love to go to the beaches, the sea breeze, the sound of the sea waves, the feel of the white sand and the smell of the sea really makes me happy. I would describe the feeling is better than orgasm. To lie down on the sand and roast myself under the sun is a big treat for me (I do wear sun cream). But I can not be at the beach all the time (that’s why I just visualize it). My other happy places are working on my study desk, in the kitchen and in my bed.

5. TAKE SOME TIME FOR SELF CARE

5. TAKE SOME TIME FOR SELF CARE- Self-care is so important and essential. We deserve a regular self-care treat. Be it a spa treatment, I love massages and scrubs. Manicure and pedicure are such a joy too. Invest or buy skincare products that you love. As I grow older, I become more conscious of myself, in terms of skincare, oral care and overall hygiene. I only use products that are mild and won’t harsh my sensitive skin. Schedule your self-care day once a week or whenever it permits you, YOU DESERVE IT!

6. POSITIVE SELF-TALK-

6. POSITIVE SELF-TALK- I always say to my partner that I talk and tell myself off all the time and she thinks I am crazy. It sounds crazy, but it is really helpful. Whenever I am about to do something, I talk to myself first (FYI: not out-loud) if its worth it and if its gonna make me happier. Self-talk is not bad, it is like you are guiding yourself. I have learned to do this to be aware and be careful to the words and decisions I am about to say or do to avoid any issues. Another form of self-talk is journaling, which I am currently obsessed with. Since I got my happiness planner I get so excited waking up in the morning and to write positive thoughts. Most of the time I encourage and push myself to do great things. I praised myself whenever I have achieved something awesome. My own self is my bestest friend and my cheerleader.

So there we have it, remember loving yourself more than anyone or anything is not wrong nor a selfish way. I hope I have given you some inspirations and good thoughts about SELF-LOVE.

Thanks so much again for taking the time to read my blog post.

Love,

  1. Nice post here Rainne. Another thing that we can do is this: we can let God into our lives. We humans usually have gifts, talents, and abilities that we do not know about ourselves. However, God is our creator, so he knows them all, I mean, he put them there. When we build a relationship with God, he shows us where our hidden virtues are, and he gives us a new identity. Prayers to God and faith in him are useful ways to invite his presence.
