How I Planned My Wedding

17 AUGUST 2019- DHANG AND RAINNE TIED THE KNOT

It has been a year since my wedding day. There were so many transitions in our lives since then. I changed job, we’ve moved to two places already, my wife found her first job in London. And then coronavirus lockdown. The only good thing that happened during the lockdown was we became much closer and it made up our four years LDR.

Here are some clips of our wedding day (click here or below).

My now-wife arrived and started living with me in the UK since May 2019. It took us three long months to get an appointment to give the notice to marry and a month to get married. Getting married in the UK, especially marrying a foreign partner is quite complex. From getting the right visa to processing and giving your notice to marry.

We only had 3 months to prepare and organise our wedding. It was very stressful, however we found some ways to make it easier and save some £££.

HERE ARE MY TIPS ON HOW TO ORGANISE AND SAVE SOME MONEY FOR YOUR WEDDING:

1. FIND SOMEONE WHO KNOWS SOMEONE: Connection is the key. Luckily, we have a businessman friend who got a lot of connections. She recommended our wedding reception venue. This venue is one of her clients. She negotiated with the venue manager, got a good deal and book the place. Another friend recommended his sister who did my hair and make-up.

2. RESEARCH, RESEARCH AND RESEARCH MORE:

  • Thank google it can answer all your questions.
  • Thank Amazon it can show you lots of varieties of all your wedding needs. I recommend you sign up on amazon prime.
  • Thank Pinterest, you can find wedding inspirations on here.

3. USE SOCIAL MEDIA TO FIND SUPPLIERS:

We found most of our suppliers on social media. Check all their reviews and compare their work from the others then decide who to choose and consider the rates too.

  • WEDDING VENUE AND FLOWER DECORATOR: instagram
  • PHOTOGRAPHER: Bidvine.com
  • CAKEMAKER: Facebook

4. DO NOT BE SHY TO BARGAIN AND ASK FOR DISCOUNT:

  • Our photographer was very generous to give us an extra hour and a half free.
  • Our wedding venue decorator suggested to help us set-up the table assignment for an extra fee.
  • Our cakemaker delivered our wedding cake for free.

5. FIND FRIENDS WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE: We are so lucky that we have some friends who volunteered to contribute to our wedding. One of them bought my wedding bouquet and my wife’s corsage. The other one paid for our wedding cake. I assigned my cousin to take video clips on our wedding and check the wedding venue for us before the guests arrive. I am sure that they are all happy to do it and flattered to be part of my wedding.

6. HAVE A BUDGET AND STICK TO IT: From my wedding dress to cake topper, I had to stick to our budget. And of course, with some help of our friends and relatives, we have managed to save some money too.

It was not easy to plan your wedding, but being organised, having a budget and with some help of your relatives and friends you can have a lovely and memorable wedding. I hope you guys got some ideas from this blog if you are planning to get married soon and want to save money for a wedding planner.

Anyways, I want to greet my better-half a happy wedding anniversary. I love your loads and loads.
