Dinner at The Shard

The Shard is one of the top attractions in London. It is a 95 storey skyscraper, designed by an Italian architect. I always wanted to go here but I never get a chance.

I planned a surprise birthday dinner for a friend of mine and we had a lovely sunset dinner at Oblix-east. Oblix is located on the 32nd floor of the Shard with a panoramic view of the London skyline. It has a bar section too, which I thought was perfect for me and my friends to have cocktails or bubbles.

We were escorted by a very lovely hostess wearing a fabulous dress to our table. As soon as we sat down, the waiter came and greeted us happily and explained about the menu. We ordered some cocktails, shared a starter and followed by the main course. The service was exceptional, the food was lovely too, a little bit pricey though.

While we were eating and drinking, we were all admiring the beautiful east London views. My favourite view was the tower bridge.

We have also witnessed the sunset reflecting on the Sky Garden building, it’s on my list too, to visit and experience.

After our dinner, we asked the host if we can see the Oblix west. Oblix West is an urban dining with west London views. They have an open kitchen and wood-fired oven. Here is more relaxed and refined. If you want to have a proper fine-dining experience, you should book Oblix west.

We planned to stay and have more drinks at the next door restaurant called Aqua Shard. It is located on the 31st floor of The Shard. Here, they have a restaurant that serves contemporary British cuisines with another stunning view of the London skyline.

Even though the restaurants and the bars here at The Shard are slightly pricey compared to any typical London restaurants, you are paying for the experience and the stunning views that you will not see on any other eatery. And The Shard is one of the amazing architectural ICONs in the world. I still need to experience the viewing platform of The Shard while sipping a champagne and admiring the beautiful city of London. I’m also planning to book an overnight stay at The Shangri-la Plaza Hotel, the only luxury hotel in The Shard. Apparently, I’ve heard the spa views are astonishing. I’m also interested to book and try the yoga classes. My friend said that they also have a silent disco here which sounds so fun, right?

Thank you so much for reading.
